In addition to American and Russian dancers from OWDF, the festival included dancers, students and teachers from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.                <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Narva-Joesuu is a historic beach resort town on the eastern edge of Estonia at the Russian border. At the start of the 20th century, this town was the preferred vacation spot of dancers from the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Mariinsky Theatre (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mariinsky_Theatre\" target=\"_blank\">Mariinsky Theatre<\/a>, including the incomparable <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anna_Pavlova\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Anna Pavlova (opens in a new tab)\">Anna Pavlova<\/a>. They would put on performances in the park where the festival performance was staged.                <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event demonstrated our passion to &#8220;Unite by Dance&#8221; in many ways.  Friendships and contacts were made between dancers from many countries while celebrating the connection of today&#8217;s dancers to the great dancers from the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"502\" src=\"https:\/\/www.openworlddancefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Estonia-Ballet-Festival-1024x502.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1087\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.openworlddancefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Estonia-Ballet-Festival-1024x502.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.openworlddancefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Estonia-Ballet-Festival-300x147.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.openworlddancefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Estonia-Ballet-Festival-768x376.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2>Students of RIGA Choreography School Visit the Vaganova Academy &#8211; February 2013<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In conjunction with the Baryshnikov Arts Festival we hosted in January\/February 2013, we invited students from Riga Choreography School to come to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Vaganova Academy (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vaganova_Academy_of_Russian_Ballet\" target=\"_blank\">Vaganova Academy<\/a> for a week. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mikhail_Baryshnikov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Mikhail Baryshnikov  (opens in a new tab)\">Mikhail Baryshnikov <\/a>was born and began his training in Riga, Latvia. In November 2011, by invitation of Open World Dance Foundation, friends and colleagues of Ekaterina from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"American Ballet Theatre (ABT) (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">American Ballet Theatre (ABT)<\/a> and the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at ABT (JKO) (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abt.org\/training\/dancer-training\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at ABT (JKO)<\/a> &#8211; Franco DeVita, Raymond Lukens and physical therapist, Julie Daugherty came to St. Petersburg.
