Each day of the Winter Workshop will be 4-6 hours<\/strong> of intensive training and will consist of ballet technique class followed by variations. We ask dancers to bring their ballet shoes, pointe shoes, and character shoes. \n\n\n\nEKATERINA SHCHELKANOVA<\/h2>\n\n\n\nFormer soloist of Mariinsky Theatre and American Ballet Theatre, graduate of Vaganova Ballet Academy<\/strong><\/em>, Director of Elite Training Program<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n![\"This](\"https:\/\/www.openworlddancefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/EKATERINA-CHTCHELKANOVA-HEADSHOT.jpg\")
<\/figure>\n\n\n\nBorn in St. Petersburg, Russia, Ekaterina Shchelkanova (Chtchelkanova) received her dance training at the Vaganova Ballet Academy<\/strong>.<\/a> Upon graduation, she joined the Kirov Ballet<\/strong><\/a> (now the Mariinsky Theatre<\/strong>) as a soloist, where she danced a variety of leading roles in major classical ballets. Ms. Shchelkanova joined American Ballet Theatre<\/a><\/strong> in 1995, and as a soloist with the Company, she excelled in a variety of soloist and principal roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"\/](\"https:\/\/www.openworlddancefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ekaterina-corsaire.png\")

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nMs. Shchelkanova\u2019s versatility, strong classical training and technical skill in classical and contemporary dance allowed her to work closely with legendary Twyla Tharp<\/a>, Sallie Wilson<\/a>, John Neumeier<\/a>, Frederik Franklin<\/a>, and Mark Morris.<\/a> Her amazing training and pure classical line were noticed by such masters as Gelsey Kirkland<\/a>, Natalia Makarova<\/a>, and Mikhail Baryshnikov.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nIn January 2006, Ekaterina accepted a position of Artistic Director at the Berlin International Dance Festival. As a guest, Ekaterina taught classes at the National Ballet of Canada<\/a> and ABT\u2019s JKO School. She joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet<\/a><\/strong> as ballet mistress and since September 2007, held the same position at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal<\/a> until she founded Open World Dance Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\nElite Training Program \/ <\/a>Summer Intensive<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\nIn addition to offering access to amazing instructors, our training programs also provide an entry point to other Open World Dance Foundation programs \u2013 particularly our Elite Training Program<\/a> , Summer Intensive<\/a><\/strong>, and performances<\/strong>. All attendees at our Winter Master Classes and Summer Intensive have the opportunity to be considered for year-round, hands-on, elite training and coaching. This program is offered to a maximum of eight students<\/strong> each year. Our Elite Training students are featured in soloist and demi-soloist roles in our performances and travel the world while being coached by Ms. Shchelkanova and Mr. Boytsov. We are delighted that three of our students from 2017 are now members of professional companies in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia and performing around the world!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
