Baryshnikov Arts Festival – St Petersburg, Russia – February 2013

To celebrate the 65th birthday of our friend, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and the 275th anniversary of our school, we found a unique way to honor them both. Working with four great photographers who captured images of Baryshnikov’s career, we installed these exhibits around St. Petersburg, Russia. Following the exhibitions, we had the honor of contributing them to the Vaganova Ballet Academy for an ongoing display.

Artists & Orphans Perform Together in New York

We explored the best ways to help others by using the gifts that ballet has given to us to help others. Our first opportunity for an event was at the invitation of Mikhail Baryshnikov to hold the first Open World Dance Foundation Gala at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York and to bring four orphans to perform at the event.

The gala brought together other dancers and artists who wanted to share their blessings to support our mission. Performers included students from American Ballet Theatre’s JKO school and New York City Ballet dancers performing choreography by Susan Jaffe.
